My philosophy:

 

“To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts” - Henry David Thoreau.

 

     Thoreau urges each of us to make every day count. In English, our daily journey is accomplished through reading, writing, speaking and listening. We instill a lifelong love of learning through active, fun, and enriching lessons and project choices. Additionally, students will develop their academic, emotional, and social competencies from learning about different cultures and people through analysis and reflection. Finally, a sense of self-worth is established as we celebrate our growth with daily writing in an environment where students are free to discuss their views and their voices are validated. In English class, we will affect the “quality of the day”, every day.
