Communicating Our Story - Grade 8 Mechanicsburg Middle School students complete 5 units of instruction.  The units include: Unit 1 - Structure and Properties of Matter, Unit 2 - Chemical Reactions, Unit 3 - Forces and Interactions, Unit 4 Energy, and Unit 5 Waves and Electromagnetic Radiation.

 

Course Description:        This is a required, heterogeneously-mixed, grade-8 offering.  It is the third course in a series of three courses (Earth Science -1, Life Science-2, and Physical Science -3).  These courses work in conjunction with one another in order to give students a complete science education, as well as to prepare students for the PSSA Science Test taken in the spring.  This course follows district curriculum maps, which were derived from Next Generation Science Standards, Pennsylvania State Science Standards and Anchors and the Prentice Hall Physical Science textbook curriculum.
