Career Exploration Center
Welcome to the
Career Exploration Center!
WHAT IS IT & HOW DOES IT WORK?
Since the 1970’s, middle school students at MASD have had the unique opportunity to experience any of the 14 different career fields offered in the Career Exploration Center classroom. Each student completes a hands-on activity in an effort to discover their personal strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes regarding potential career pathways.
This year’s program has each 7th grade student attending to experience their top career choice from what is. Having this experience helps them find a direction to take during high school and their post-secondary education. All of the activities are directly related to S.T.E.A.M. careers in more ways than one. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics)
This program is successful because students are given the choice of which career activity they wish to complete (making learning relevant) and they work at their own pace because they are self-directed. They follow instructions via the internet or by watching pre-recorded media and receive help when needed. Students are not graded for this activity.
For more information and what activities are offered, please log onto www.mbgsd.org, then to “Schools”, Middle School, then “our school” tab on the left side. There you’ll find the link to the Career Exploration Center webpage. Click on the link for the virtual tour!
