A Lil' Bit About Me
Hola! I am Mr. Stanton ... and that's likely the extent of the Spanish I know from my years as a parent enjoying my daughters' excitement watching Dora the Explorer. They both are adult-age now ... that should give you an idea as to how old I am.
Anyways, the things I have to share include the fact that I have been serving the Mechanicsburg community as a middle school teacher since 2004. I also have out-of-state experience with high school, teaching courses in U.S. History and Government. Overall, I have about two-and-a-half decades in middle-level education where I have shared learning spaces with sixth, seventh, and eighth grader students.
In regards to MMS, the Social Studies content includes an introduction to Geography and the study of Ancient Civilizations. My interest in these topics developed as a teenager who grew up in a small town (it literally consisted of a post office) near Valley Forge. As a result, I often refer to experiences and use connections tied to Philadelphia.
My personal adventure after graduating high school took me to Lancaster County where I attended college. After graduation, I moved south and spent ten years living in the suburbs of Washington DC. After earning a M.Ed degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Hood College, I sought to relocate my family closer to our parents and grandparents. This decision brought us to southcentral PA as my wife grew up in Linglestown. We will celebrate 28 years of marriage this fall.
I know there is more I could share yet I wanted to keep this short. Now you know a lil' bit about me.
