📚 ¡CUENTOS Y CONEXIONES! (“Stories and Connections”) // MASH Spanish IV Honors students took a walk down the hill to Broad Street Elementary today, where they shared original children’s stories with first graders. 💛

As part of their culminating project, students created culturally-based storybooks inspired by the Spanish-speaking world, covering everything from festivals and famous places to mysteries and traditions. Through expressive storytelling, illustrations, and interactive Spanish words, our high school Wildcats helped bring language and culture to life for their younger audience.

It was a fun and meaningful experience for everyone involved, and a great reminder that learning is even more powerful when it’s shared. 🌎📖

🧦 HEY DUSTIN, YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // Flashback to MASH spring musical season ... when a sound system issue threatened to delay one of the season’s performances just minutes before curtain, Dustin Smith, Technology Support, jumped into action.

With the help of others from the team, Dustin quickly rigged the marching band sound system to the auditorium sound board, saving the performance and helping the show go on. 🎭🎶

Thank you, Dustin, for staying calm under pressure, thinking creatively, and doing whatever it took to support our students and staff. Your quick thinking had huge impact. 💛

🎨✋ STRONGER TOGETHER // MASH students recently came together to celebrate the many cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and traditions that make our school community so special.

As part of the annual Cultural Heritage Day celebration, students collaborated on a colorful handprint mural that will proudly brighten the halls of MASH for years to come. More than just artwork, the mural serves as a lasting reminder of connection, belonging, and the value of learning from one another. 💛

We love seeing our Wildcats celebrate what makes each person unique while coming together as one community.

🎓 SHE'S A JUNIOR LEADERSHIP CUMBERLAND GRAD // We're proud to celebrate MASH's Gabriella Kerchner on her successful completion of the Junior Leadership Cumberland program.

Throughout this experience, Gabriella demonstrated a strong commitment to personal growth and leadership development. She embraced opportunities to learn more about herself, build new skills, and gain valuable insight that will guide her in the years ahead. As the only Wildcat in this year’s cohort, Gabriella served as an outstanding ambassador for our district.

🚌 DRIVEN BY CARE // Today, we’re celebrating Bus/Van Driver Appreciation Day. From the first to last smile of the day, our bus/van drivers do so much more than get students from point A to point B. They create a welcoming start, a safe ride, and a familiar, friendly presence our students can count on.

📸 Thank you to Mr. Scott of B&S and all of our bus/van drivers across the district for your patience and care. Today we celebrate you, every day we appreciate you. 💛

🧦 HEY NATHAN, YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // Nathan Einsig, MASH Science Teacher and Science, Technology, and Engineering Department Chair, is making an impact beyond the classroom.

Leading other leaders is no small task, and Nathan recently supported that work by developing and facilitating a thoughtful reflection activity for the secondary department coordinator team based on a shared book study. His engaging, high-quality approach created space for meaningful conversation and continued growth in leadership skills.

Thank you, Mr. Einsig, for helping our team learn, reflect, and lead even stronger.

🇺🇸 WILDCATS IN D.C. // Students from the Civil Rights Legacy Elective, AP U.S. History, and 9th Grade American Studies classes at MASH recently took learning on the road with a meaningful trip to Washington, D.C..

The trip started at the Lincoln Memorial, where Austin, a sophomore, read an excerpt from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech at the historic marker, creating a powerful moment of reflection. Students also visited the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and continued along the National Mall, connecting their learning to the places where history happened.

The day concluded at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, where students explored exhibits that brought key moments in American history to life.

A beautiful day filled with learning, reflection, and Wildcats making meaningful connections.

📸 Shoutout to Social Studies teacher Megan Miller for sharing these photos.

💬 CONNECTION IN MOTION // Whether it’s in an office, a classroom, or even rolling down the hallway, building relationships with students is always a priority.

Recently, we spotted MASH Assistant Principal Sunada Roberts rolling down the hallway with her laptop on a cart, a perfect reminder that connection doesn’t have to be complicated. Instead, it’s about being present, approachable, and willing to meet students where they are. Every interaction is a chance to listen, support, and make a student feel seen.

🧦 HEY DEB, YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // Deb Haines, School Nurse at MASH, recently went above and beyond in a moment that meant the world to a student in need.

When one of our Wildcats discovered a large hole in their pants during the school day, Deb stepped in right away. She quickly pinned the pants so the student could comfortably get through the day and even offered to sew them properly afterward.

It’s a small act of kindness with a big impact. In the words of the student’s parent, it “reminded me how lucky we are to have such compassionate staff in our buildings.” Thank you, Deb, for caring for our Wildcats in every way that matters. ❤️

Their organization, problem-solving, and willingness to jump in wherever needed make a difference in ways big and small. 🎻 WILDCATS TAKE THE STAGE // Our talented student musicians proudly represented MASH at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Central Region Orchestra Festival, held earlier this month at Williamsport Area High School. Bringing together top student musicians from across Districts 7 and 8, the weekend was filled with powerful performances, collaboration, and unforgettable music under the direction of Dr. Soo Han of George Mason University.

Earning a spot at this level is a remarkable achievement, and we couldn’t be more proud of these outstanding Wildcats:

🎶 Eric Capewell (cello)
🎶 Liliana Gulde (violin)
🎶 Ryma Saha (violin)

Your dedication, talent, and hard work continue to make #WildcatPride ring loud and clear. 🎶🐾
