Sometimes, all it takes is one caring adult to make a lasting difference in a student's life. Mechanicsburg Middle School is looking for community members who are willing to share a little of their time to make a big impact through its student mentoring program.

The program connects adult mentors with students in grades 6–8, providing an opportunity to build positive relationships, offer encouragement, and help students develop confidence as they navigate their middle school years.

You don't need to be an expert or have a background in education to be a great mentor. Simply being a positive, consistent presence in a student's life can make a meaningful difference.

Mentors can support students in a variety of ways, including:

  • Checking in regularly and offering encouragement.

  • Helping students set goals and make decisions.

  • Sharing career, life, and educational experiences.

  • Building confidence and helping students recognize their potential.

  • Providing a trusted, supportive adult connection.

What Is the Time Commitment?

Mentors meet with students once a week during ninth period, from 2:45–3:20 p.m., at Mechanicsburg Middle School.

All mentors must have updated clearances and a TB test before beginning their volunteer service.
