ELD Class Contract:

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to MMS!  I am excited to begin a new school year and to get to know you and your family! Middle school comes with a lot of change; to be successful in this transition, we need to work as a team – parent, student, and teacher. Below is a description of expectations for our English Language Development Class.  Please read this letter, sign the paper copy sent home with your child, and return the paper copy to school.

Expectations:

  • Come to class prepared with the necessary tools.  Pencils, folder, agenda book, and a charged Chromebook are essential.
  • Have assignments handed in on time.
  • Fill your agenda book in on a daily basis.
  • Have a book to read with you in class each day.
  • Bring an A+ attitude to class each day.

Grades:

Grades are based on total points.  These will be accumulated through writing assignments, in classwork, homework, and participation.  Parents and students may check grades at any time by logging on to Sapphire through the district’s website. Students are welcome to discuss a grade with me at any time.

Homework:

  • Homework is very important.  It is meant to reinforce what we learn in class. All homework is posted on the board for students to record in their agenda books.  Students need to check the board in my room or Google Classroom for assignments.
  • Most times homework will be the completion of an assignment that we start in class.  All homework should be done neatly and handed in on time.
  • When you miss a class due to sectionals or absence, it is the student’s responsibility to see the teacher to find the assignment and all expectations

Thank you for taking the time to review these expectations.  Please contact me at [email protected] or  717-691-4560.

Sincerely,

 Mrs. Maggie Snelbaker
