Principal's Message

Dear Mechanicsburg Middle School Families,

Greetings!  On behalf of the Mechanicsburg Middle School teachers and administration, I would like to personally welcome you to the 2022-23 school year.  Whether you are new to our building, or returning for another year, please be certain we are committed to sustaining a strong sense of Tradition, Pride, and Excellence at MMS.  As your building Principal, I am eager to work alongside each of you for the betterment of our students.

As part of the middle school experience, we will continue to work toward maintaining a balance of allowing students increasing levels of autonomy while also ensuring that students are appropriately challenged during the school day.  Our “whole child” approach to education will allow us to offer engaging opportunities while fostering the academic, social and emotional growth within each our students.

In order for your child to be best prepared for the first day of school, please go to Mechanicsburg Middle School on the district website (www.mbgsd.org) under “News & Announcements” for information regarding 6th, 7th and 8th pertinent information.  Also, be sure you are aware of your child’s bus pick-up and drop-off information.  This is located on the MASD website under the District homepage “News & Announcements”.

Additionally, please remind your child that all electronic devices must be turned off when entering the school building and may not be turned back on until dismissal.  All students need to follow the dress code which can be referenced in the Mechanicsburg Area School District Code of Conduct.  Thank you for your support as we continue to create a safe physical, emotional and social environment for every student.

I will be working directly with administration, teachers, students, parents and guardians, counselors, and social services on a daily basis.  Effective communication between home and school is a major key to the educational process.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school via email or call us at (717) 691-4560.

Thanks again for your continued support in our continued efforts to prepare your children to be the best they can be.  I am looking forward to a terrific school year!

Yours in Education,

Joel A. Yohn, M.Ed.
