What will we learn in Voyagers Science?
8th Grade Science is all about Physical Science. That means about half a year of physics and half a year of chemistry. We will also be focusing on thinking and behaving like scientists! How is the behavior of a scientist different? What sort of thinking is involved? Get your brain ready!
Our units are as follows:
Unit 1: Structure and Properties of Matter
- How can particles combine to produce a substance with different properties?
- How does thermal energy affect particles?
Unit 2: Chemical Reactions
- What happens when new materials are formed?
- What stays the same and what changes?
Unit 3: Forces and Interactions
- How can one describe physical interactions between objects and within systems of objects?
Unit 4: Energy
- How can energy be transferred from one object or system to another?
Unit 5: Waves and Electromagnetic Radiation
- What are the characteristic properties of waves and how can they be used?
