Katie E. George-Awua, School Counselor

I am currently entering my 13th year as a School Counselor and I am incredibly excited to start my eighth year with the Mechanicsburg Middle School Counseling Department as the 8th grade counselor this year!  I graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 2004.  I am a proud Wildcat and I am thankful to be working here.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Millersville University in 2008 and I earned my Master’s of Education in School Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011.

I am here to support your child and promote emotional, personal, academic and social success.  I am looking forward to working with you and your child this coming year!

Emily E. Normand, School Counselor

I am excited to start my 2nd year with the Mechanicsburg Middle School Counseling Department!  I have been a professional school counselor for 15 years.  I am a 2000 Graduate of MASH and love working at my alma mater.

I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, as well as my Master’s Degree in Counseling from Shippensburg University.  I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor and am in the process of obtaining my License.

I am also a resident of Mechanicsburg and live with my two daughters and my cat, Gilbert.  I am excited to support your child with their social, emotional and academic success at MMS.  Let’s make this year a great one!

Kristie J. Socha, School Counselor

This will be my 16th year serving as a school counselor at MMS.  I have been a professional school counselor for 19 years.  I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Services, College of Education from The Pennsylvania State University and obtained my Master’s degree in Secondary School Counseling from Shippensburg University.  In addition to my role as school counselor, I am the School Counseling Team Liaison, a STAR (SAP) team member, and participate on district-wide committees for the planning and development of programs.

It is an honor to be your child’s school counselor and I will do my best to support your child’s academic, social, and emotional development during their years at MMS.

Elizabeth A. Morrow, Secretary

This is my 23rd year at MMS.  Prior to redirecting my career to the Mechanicsburg School District, I spent 3 1/2 years with a local insurance services company.  There I held the positions of Administrative Associate and Senior Support Representative.

I received my Associates degree from Harrisburg Area Community College and my Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the Pennsylvania State University.  I currently reside in Mechanicsburg with my husband, our daughter, and our dog.

I look forward to getting to know the students of MMS and look forward to seeing them succeed personally, socially, and academically.
